Unit 10 I’m going to be a basketball player. Aims and Requirements: a. Knowledge objective To learn the following new words: dream, computer programmer, basketball player, pilot, engineer, teacher and actor and so on about job and some verb phrases of expressing how to do that. b. Ability objective To train students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing. c. Moral objective Enable the students to realize their dream jobs, and how to achieve them. Teaching key points: Understand the new words and dialogue. Then know how to read and write these key words and key sentences. Teaching difficult points: Talk about the one’s dream job and discuss how to make it come true Teaching methods: Communicative approach, Using context, Role playing, Pair work etc. Teaching aids: Tape recorder, Slides, Pictures etc. Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Greeting T: Ok. Class begins. Morning, everyone! S: Morning, teacher. T: How are you today? S: Fine, thank you, and you? T: Fine, thank you. Today we’re going to learn a new lesson “Unit 10 I’m going to be a basketball player”. (在黑板上寫下Unit 10 I’ m going to be a basketball player.) Step 2 Lead-in T: First, I ask you a question. What do you want to be when you grow up? Sb: … T: Fantastic! You have a great dream job. Come on! Do you want to know what my dream job is when I’m a child? S: Yes. T: Who can guess? S: … T: Clever boys and girls. My dream is to be a pilot. (Write “pilot” on the Bb) Do you know what does the “pilot” mean? S: No. T: Let me show you a picture. (楊利偉) Then you must know the meaning of “pilot”. Do you know who is he? S: … (Chinese) T: Bingo! Now do you know the meaning of “pilot”, right? S: Yes. T: Do you know who is he? (Write “actor” on the Bb) He is very handsome, right? I like him very much. Now let’s see another one. He is the richest man in the world. Can you guess? S: 比爾蓋茨. T: So clever. But do you know what his job is? S: … (Chinese) T: Very well. He is a computer programmer. (Write “computer programmer” on the Bb) Ok, now we learn the last new word today. It is “engineer”. Who can guess what the meaning of “engineer” is? S: … T: Nobody knows? This new word may be a little difficult to learn. It means “工程師”. Read after me. Teacher!
