　　Lesson 29

　　1.Help yourself to...

　　這是一句席間交際用語，意思是“請隨便吃點……”。類似用語還有:

　　Make yourself at home.

　　Would you like some(beef，mutton etc.)?How/What about(a glass of beer，etc.)?

　　2.at one s house(for...)

　　At one s house/home/place意思是“在某人家里”，如果是名詞，可以省略house/home/ place。例如:

　　—Where s Li Hai， do you know?—He s at Mr Smith s for dinner.

　　On New Year s Eve， we all got together at Grandpa s.

　　除夕夜，我們都聚集在爺爺家。

　　3.take turns take turns to do sth.意思是“輪流做某事”。

　　例如:

　　All the students took turns to look after the sick boy.

　　We usually take turns to be on duty.

　　4.offer v.

　　offer這里用作及物動詞，意思是“提供，提出”，后面常接介詞to或for。例如:

　　May I offer a suggestion to you?我可以向你提個建議嗎?They ve offered us ￡60，000 for the house.Shall we take it?他們出價六萬英鎊買這所房子，我們賣不賣?The police are offering a big reward for the information

　　About that traffic accident.警察要用一大筆賞金給提供有關交通事故情況的人。

　　Lessons 30 & 31

　　1.discover v.

　　discover用作及物動詞，意思為“發(fā)現(xiàn)(原先就存在而不為人知的地方和事實)”，后面可接名詞、代詞或從句。注意和invent區(qū)別開來。invent意思是“發(fā)明(原先不存在的機器或方法等)”。find意思是“找到丟失的或不知道的人或物”。例如:

　　Columbus discovered America.

　　They discovered oil in the North Sea.

　　Who invented the computer?Where did you find the lost child?

　　2.as much water as rice

　　As much water as rice這里用作比較狀語，as...as中間常接形容詞或副詞原級。

　　【注意】在否定句中，還可以用not so...as

　　As...as中間也可以是“形容詞+名詞”(例如:as much water as)。注意:如果名詞是可數(shù)名詞單數(shù)，冠詞應放在形容詞和名詞中間。例如:

　　I think English is as interesting as maths.

　　Boys don t work as/so carefully as girls(do).

　　English is as interesting a subject as maths.

　　He didn t own as large a house as I had imagined.

　　I haven t got as many books as I ve needed.

　　3.enough room這里room用作不可數(shù)名詞，意思是“空間，空地
